Ditch the box of brownie mix and use up your extra sourdough discard at the same time! These Sourdough Brownies are the perfect fudgy texture!

Servings: 9 squares
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 55 minutes
Ingredients:
3/4 cup (90 g) flour
1 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 cup dark chocolate chips
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup sourdough discard (active starter works too!)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk together the dry ingredients in a bowl.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and remove from heat. Immediately pour in the chocolate chips and vanilla extract and stir until the chocolate is melted.
Stir in the dry ingredients.
Stir in the eggs and sourdough discard until fully combined. It should be a pretty stiff batter.
Pour into an 8x8 baking dish lined with parchment paper and top with extra chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
Notes:
The sourdough discard gives the brownies a great flavor, but if needed you would substitute the 1/2 cup discard by adding an additional 1/4 cup of flour (making it a total of 1 cup flour) and add 1/4 cup of milk when you add the eggs.
